In whatever capacity I practice acupuncture in the future, my practice will be trauma-informed and a practice of transformation not only of self but of groups and communities.
I have a very internalized story about needing to perform goodness, excellence, and competency. These are elements of racialized, patriarchal, late-stage capitalism that I, like so many others, have internalized. In times of collapse and with respect to learning holistic medicine, these old habit energies have no place in my learning and practice.
After a month of studying acupuncture, I check in to document my initial impressions. I also recognized straight away, the intersections of my varying interests and experiences, including somatic experiencing, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, presencing coaching, etc.
